I’ve struggled with my weight since I was a preteen, and by struggle I mean just kept gaining and gaining. A huge factor has always been my fight with low self-esteem and the other factor is just being so damn inactive and making the wrong food choices. Two months ago I swore off alcohol completely, I cut way back on caffeine and diet soda (more water for this gal), and I’m trying my hardest to avoid fast-food (as much as I love to cook, fast food was the quicker and cheaper choice and the worst choice). The past month I got my butt in gear to be more active. It started off with trying to walk a half hour every day soon I was upping it to an hour and even jogging. Now my every day record hasn’t been perfect until last week I am trying to not beat myself up over it and trying to keep myself motivated. I’ve joined an online weight loss community Fat Secret, and setting little goals so the total amount of weight I want gone won’t look so intimidating.

Day 2 - Somewhere
Somewhere is Sophia Coppola's second film I've seen. This is the first time I've watched this film and it let me down. I am a huge fan of Lost in Translation and had high hopes for this. I heard it was slow so I at least prepared myself for the pace. The first shot is a car going in a circle five time and then stopping and a guy steps out. It's probably a two minute shot that sets up the pace you have to get used to. Once the movie got going I was fine with the slow pace. One thing I can say about Sophia is that she knows how to make characters. The scenes between father and daughter are enjoyable to watch and build the connection you are hoping they have. With the first half hour being no kid, the film really didn't seem to be needed that much. You can get that he is a numb actor with a lot less than the 30 minutes he gets. Nonetheless the film works. Day 1 - In Bruges
My first film is In Bruges. This is my third time watching this film and I have to say, still love it. First off this film is beautiful to watch. Bruges is set as a fairytale city and it looks like that when watching it. With Colin Farrells character saying how much he hates it, it makes you wonder if this film sets Bruges in a good light. Even with all the murder, I'd love to visit Bruges. Overall the film moves at a great pace with is key to an indie like film. With the story really only being two people talking back and forth for an hour, it never gets boring. The writing is amazing. I'm truly struck by the quick banter and the pure comedy the lines deliver. You can't have this type of comedy and drama mixed with out acting and it's pitch perfect. If you have never heard of this film or you never saw it when it came out, I highly recommend you watch it. It is one of those films that got passed by but should be seen and praised. As a total film nerd I watch a lot of movies. And I mean a lot. I really have nothing going on in my life so I'm left with huge amounts of free time. I thought that I wold start keeping track of the films I watch and kind of talk about what I liked or didn't like about them. Even I Can Change Lol
So maybe you have noticed, or maybe you haven't, that a lot of my statuses lately have been fitness oriented. Needless to say I have become a little bit obsessed. But wait! There's a reason. As many of you know, I spent from December of '09 until my surgery in July of '11 enduring rather nasty shoulder/arm pain due to a bone spur tearing up my rotator cuff. It only lasted so long because it took so long to find thanks to a few inept doctors who insisted it was my neck causing all my symptoms. But that is a whole other rant (see previous entries in Rants lol). So finally this year I am able to get back into a regular fitness routine, and boy have I dug in with both feet and gone after it. Istarted withe a fitness program called Les Mills Pump. It uses light weights but tons of repetions. I chose it as a rehab program for my shoulder plus a way to start building back my endurance. I'll tell you what, people, the programs is a lot more challenging than it may look at first and it

Another one no one will read, but again, I wanted to say something. Levon Helm, long-time singer/drummer for The Band, died this afternoon at the age of 71. He lost a long battle with throat cancer. I just need to vent about this for a minute. I also should state that weather or not it's any of your business, I am not on welfare. I do however have an opinion about it because my tax money is what helps fund it. It's not that I think there is anything bad about welfare in general, I just think that it needs to be reexamined. I Need A Vacation
I'm exhausted. Mentally and physically. My lifestyle (ok work included) doesn't afford me much rest. These past weeks I've seen this take a toll on my body as well as my mind. This is very much apparent at work. My mind isn't as sharp as it used to be. I've been drawing blanks while writing. This didn't use to happen. I always had something to say. I'm a little more irritable too. I should just get away from all this. What I need is a real vacation. Get real rest, a good sleep. Just be what I used to be, a bum. I envy a friend of mine who quit her job and is now preparing to go on a trip to Europe. If I could do something like that I'm sure it would help me recover most of my (perceived) wit. Another thing is to get away from all these people I see everyday. A vacation from the routine. That would be great.... Now back to work.

Yes, I was in the ER, and yes, I'm home (and obviously alive). For those of you with short attention spans, skip the rest :P Yesterday just before lunch I started to feel a bit "off". Kinda dizzy, but I had been for a couple days and wrote it off as serotonin withdrawal since I stopped my last antidepressant a week and a half ago. It’s been awhile since I tried to fill up one of these barren fields of white. It was a nice Sunday. Went for breakfast with the family and then had a quiet kind of do nothing rainy day on my hands. I have 2 children, my son is 6 1/2 years old and my daughter is 3. They are my everything. Both kids have different dads. i am sorry to report that what we had all feared would happen has ! david has taken off. he left the home where he was staying and no one has heard from him since he left. it is very sad that this has happened . but , some people who have been on the streets for so long cannot cope with society. unfortunately david is one of those people. all we can do is wait and see if he contacts one of us in the future. we will be leaving the page up even though it is not active, that way if one of us does hear from him we can post it on the page. this is a very sad thing but it does happen, more so than not from what i am told. davids health is not good and he will die if he doesnt keep up with his medication. those of you who are religious we ask that you keep him and waldo in your prayers for their safety. thanks for reading and caring jp

I read an article on NPR Online which was about songs that get stuck in your head. The article called them earworms. The name has stuck in my mind like - well, like an earworm. Yesterday an earworm infested my brain. I saw a trailer for the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks 3: Chipwrecked. The trailer featured soundbytes from the Chipettes performing a song.
