I haven’t followed sports for quite sometime but i was absolutely elated that boston beat anaheim in game two of the playoffs right there in orange county last night. Orange County is called the Orange Curtain, and it is the home of xenophobic white flight. I lived there for 14 months, so I will narrate a classic story of the mindset, the ignorance and the utter myopic and linear thinking of these drones(as a collective).
anyway, i just hope that the little OC kids aren’t crying too much and mommy and daddy have prozac for their malaise after the angels lost. it’s pathetic how people get so emotionally wrapped up with a team to where they almost cry. as i said to one of my friends (pom pom anaheim die-hard), “it’s only a game, and you aren’t getting a dime from this, and no girls are coming over to your house, so try not to let it ruin your day”. but hey, some people cry and get scarred over different things.
back to the oc story. my buddy told me “i was ready, i was ready if they came down”. scott i asked, “ready for what”? “when the riots were taking place after the rodney king incident i had my 50 cal. and my mini-14 and i was ready dude”. now for some of you a geography lesson may be necessary to add color and information to this story..Orange County is at minimum an hour away from los angeles. so I responded, “the brothers, the bloods, the crips, and all the l.a. riot freaks are going to get on a bus and come down and try to ruin your cute little pristine lilly white subculture.” look they didn’t even take the riots into Beverly hills, brentwood, or other places close by. and trying to find some areas in orange county with a gps is difficult. So i just stood there stunned and wanted to hand him a book like “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Seuss.
and as far as sports is concerned i just wonder if these guys would be less prone to errors if money was electronically transferred from their account everytime they dropped a ball or messed up a play? what incentive is there really other than some contract that guarantees them a salary for 5 years?
and this song is so appropriate for the big oc and the angels, and the fans, and the xenophobia, and the cute white nuremberg kids that are spoiled rotten.
