The execution video was playing on a TV in the riteaid pharmacy waiting area. Just what I wanted to see. I got up and walked away but heard some of the audio. How does it make you feel to watch a human kill another human?
Several times in my life I have seen executions on TV without warning. Those images are burned into my brain. When you watch violence you consume the violence and it becomes part of you, thus the cycle continues.
Personally, I think that it is the responsibility of everyone to set an example and lead a non-violent lifestyle. This means more than not killing people, it means you should culture an awareness of how violence propagates.
It is not a matter of "being" non-violent but rather seeing the violence for what it is in all its forms. Only then will the violence drop away as we see it for what it is rather than just reacting against it because ultimately the reaction against it is a form of violence in itself.
