Voodoo and City Park agree on Halloween fest dates

The President of the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau announced today an agreement to hold the 2009 Voodoo Experience on Friday, October 30th through November 1st.
Stephen Perry says officials at the New Orleans City Park and Stephen Rehage, Voodoo Festival Producer agreed on the date after an amendment to the Voodoo Festival's existing 10-year contract with City Park.
"We are so pleased to see that all parties involved have come together to reach this agreement for the benefit of the city," said Perry in a news release. "Economically and culturally, festivals have grown to be the lifeblood of our city's tourism industry. City Park officials and Rehage Entertainment, in reaching such an agreement, prove that to be the case yet again. With the strong festival lineup in the Spring, and Voodoo Experience anchoring the Fall, we have an impressive roster of events to draw more people to our city."
The two sides were at an impasse after festival organizers wanted to move the event to coincide with Halloween. City Park officials had said they didn't want to reschedule other, smaller, events.
The release says, "Events scheduled for the park on those dates have been rescheduled."
Perry says last year�s Voodoo Festival drew over 150,000 attendees, and was estimated to have an economic impact of more than $50 million.
This October�s event will mark the 11th year for Voodoo Festival.
