The stray dog

Okay! So this all started Friday 7-10-09. The doctor I work for is going around the office looking for somebody to adopt this stray dog. After some time he seems to convince the office manager aka granny. This dog was a Dachshund, I say over 10 years old. The person that found him stated that he was like 6.

Anyways! Lets continue, Granny ends up taking this dog home on Friday evening and loves it. Well till Sunday comes around I get a phone call from her asking if I wanted the dog. Well I then start to question her asking what is wrong with the dog and why didn't she want him no more. She then proceeds to tell me that the dog is depressed and lonely, that he needed a big family with kids.

(Lets not forget I live in a big house with three kids and other people)

As we proceed I agree to take this dog in on Monday, I bring him home, he is doing great the kids love him and my other dog Woody loves him! This was around 7pm. Everything was great Mr.Weenie (the stray) was fitting in great. Then he starts to cough and spit up phlegm all over the couch, so we end up putting him in the pet carrier for the night to make sure everything was ok.

His breathing was rapid and labored along with the persistant coughing and spitting up phlegm. I have seen this before with a dog I had before that lived to be 16 years old, and he hads heart problems. I knew he was not going to last many days when he started the coughing and breathing.

So today 7-14-09 at work, I get a call saying the dog had passed. I wasn't suprised, and I wasn't heart broken oddly. We let the people we got him from know what all had happen. (This is where it becomes strange)

They start saying the dog had bitten her husband two days before granny had taken him home. (The husband is not the brightest Crayon in the box he was trying to take a bone from a dog) The lady starts stating that she and her husband wanted the dogs body. (WTF these people are weird and by now the dog is under dirt in my back yard). She states they want to get an autopsy done on the dog to make sure it wasn't rabies (read back no signes of rabies) so after many conversations with the lady and trying to convince her to have her husband come in and get treated for rabies on the safe side weather or not the dog had it was out of the question. They rather pay a big vet bill to find out what killed the damn dog then a $20 copay!

After a long thought time and many sick vomiting feeling of a thought as a crazy person digging up a dead dog, I wanted the calls to end so I let them do so. I told them I was not doing it that they had to. So at 7pm today the dog that I had brought home 24hours before was being dug up.

This is the end of the stray dog issure till that autopsy comes back! Stay tuned!
