The Mastermind and the Spider
When I was just a small pint
as my eldest brother named me years ago,
I would sit for hours swinging
trying to reach the highest cloud.
One day my brothers friend stopped by
and offered his helping hand,
so I could reach the highest height
sailing in the wind.
But his intent was just a trick
as he tied my golden locks
into the chains that held the swing,
now a prisoner I'd become.
I cried for many minutes
till my mother came to see
and had to get the scissors to detach
me from the swing.
Feeling very badly for the trick
that was played on me,
my brother pulled out of his pocket
a bug he had bought for me.
It was very fuzzy with eight dangling rubber legs,
a scary looking spider with a plan he made for me.
Up above the threshold a nail he put in place
attached some nylon fishing line
to the fuzzy-scary-thing.
I practice from the stairway
the descent it looked so real,
and waited for my victim
to surprise him with this thrill.
Revenge is sweet or so I'm told,
the time had finally come,
to put the plan in action
with the spider that hung above.
My brothers friend came through the door,
the spider I descent,
I heard his heart-stopping blood-curdling scream,
then he fainted to the floor.
I have to say I hid for days
but a lesson here was learned,
don't mess with the little sister
whose brother is one skillful of his kind
(which sometimes could be cunning)
a mastermind.
