He’s a damned one
I watch him cross the street
Hands buried deep in his pockets
Shoelaces dragging him down
A hood shields his face
Commodity?
He pauses for a moment at the sidewalk
A cigarette to light his way
Spits into the incoming traffic
And steps out…
As tires squeal in shock and glass shatters
Is begins to rain
Almost as if to wash away this bad day
I follow him with my eyes
So calm as he walks
Head down, ducking into an alleyway
Leaving cursing drivers behind
I know he’s laughing
But I feel him crying
Praying, hoping his luck to run out
Rain stops some time later
And like the blossoms it brings
He’s out
Stops in the middle, this is something new
He reaches up, removing his hood
I catch a glimpse of a smirk and cars rush by
Unaware and uninterested
He holds his arms out
Like a crucifix
He stares straight at me
As his left had rises to his temple
All time seemed to stop after that
The ‘Big Bang’ and screeching tires
He seemed to stand for eternity
The top of his head blown away with the side of his face
And as a woman screams
His body falls
And as he hits the asphalt
I stand from my table
And I walk away
One unfinished coffee
Abandoned
Unpaid for
