Qualcomm has the ARM processor Snapdragon 805 introduced ultra HD, a system-on-chip for smartphones and tablets imaginary with four Krait cores, the graphics core Adreno 420 as well as Wi-Fi and mobile radio connection. He should prepare mobile devices for the 4K-Zeitalter, so allow the recording and playback of 4K-Videos, as well as internal 4K-Displays and 4K-Monitore control - and this hold especially enough graphics power.
The four Krait-450 cores reach 2.5 GHz, so 0.2 GHz over at the predecessor of Snapdragon 800. Storage throughput is Qualcomm with 25.6 GB / s on which would be a duplication: the Snapdragon 800 has two 32-bit channels at 800 MHz, creates a maximum of 12.8 GB / s. Because Qualcomm could have probably mentioned a widening of the memory bus, the Snapdragon 805 with LPDDR3-3200 memory (1.6 GHz) should cope. It is however doubtful, whether all manufacturers (or initially even a) then this memory use; more LPDDR3-2133 should be used - thus 17 GByte/s. Other major changes in the Krait core as a 64-bit support Qualcomm would have mentioned, probably, so it should be still a 32-bit processor with up to 4 GB of main memory.
The graphics core Adreno 420 to run up to 40 percent faster than its predecessor (c't and TechStage have tested the Adreno 330 in the Snapdragon 800). He supports - the first 12-inch display with this resolution was presented last month - internal 4K-Displays and external monitors with this resolution. The 805 is available with two different mobile radio modules that support the faster the 800 150 Mbps LTE, 11ac Wi-Fi and 4K-Streaming.
Qualcomm provides already samples to manufacturers and anticipates series devices in the summer of next year. Probably the Snapdragon will be finding 805 initially only in tablets, perhaps with the 12-inch display. Snapdragon 800 anyway, has a high heat that manufacturer so far at best up cool get it in Smartphones from 5 inches, under load and even there it is throttled: as revealed in the c't lab, that of the Snapdragon of 800 in the samsung mobile accessories only temporarily unrestricted runs note 3, Sony Z Ultra and other devices. Only Sony likes to make it better: the Xperia Z1f that wants to get the Qualcomm 800 with 2.2 GHz in a 4.3 inch enclosure in the handle is announced at the end of the year.
