What power does knowledge bring?
When tis beauty that shapes our world.
It was not plato who launched 1,000 ships
Who among us has been moved to tears by calculus
trigonometry and abstract physics?
save the frustration of an overdue assignment-
When the grandieur of the chasm
the dancing ribbons of light in the north
the white sand sparkling in salt spray
is what we celebrate fond, and close.
These are our truths, and there is power in truth.
Power in the very reality we love.
What good is knowledge in a land of fools
where mediocrity, even failure is rewarded.
We're only granted the shield of knowing
take your hand from the fire,
come out of the rain, fall flat with both eyes open.
Shakespeare or Milchberg?
Sovereign truth, or academic discourse?
Beauty is only skin deep
until you carve it in stone.
Until you ink it from your heart.
Capturing this moment.
Her perfection.
But marble crumbles.
Paper burns.
Youth ripens on the branch
turning too sweet, creased and overburdened.
The only power in knowledge
is the gravity in truth.
The great collapse
after an explosive, minute awareness.
