I have just completed working on two different movies. The One thing that always bothered me is how many locals are given a chance to work on set.
Other than Background or Extras jobs that pay the least. Other possible jobs on the production (Set Dressing, Props, Grip, Wardrobe, Gaff, etc ) are rarely offered.
Most of the films I have completed had very few townies working on the set. The production says it helps the local economy by spending money at the restaurants and Hotels. I call that Chicken S*&t
I would like to see more of my neighbors working as part of the crew and putting the money in their pockets. With each movie I try and add a few locals and show them what I know.
I always thought it was better to teach a person how to fish than to hand them the catch. Am I Wrong?
