A friend defined by Webster's is:
Someone on terms of affection and regard for another who is neither relative nor lover. Someone who freely supports and helps out of good will. An acquaintance.
Well I do agree with most of it but not all. I feel an acquaintance. Is not necessarily a friend. A friend proves themselves in many ways an acquaintances does not.
Throughout ones life they meet lots of people. Some of which they can build a special bond with and share a mutual understanding. Others though they may be friendly with are not consider as friends. These to me are acquaintances.
So what a friend means to me is:
Someone that shows you respect and honesty. A person that you can count on during good times and bad to stay by your side. A person you enjoy spending your time with and look forward to being with. Someone you can confide in and who takes the time to get to know you as a person. Will not judge you by your shortcomings. But, assist you and support you to improve yourself.
True friendship is a trial of faith and dedication. Though you may not always agree. You are wise enough to know, that friendship is more important then the same ideas. For it is the individualism in all of us, that makes us so special.
Your idea of a friend may be or may not be same as mine. Does not make me wrong or right. But, we do have one thing in common today. We each thought of what a friend really is to each and every one of us. So, reach out to those who may fit your description of a friend. Let them know you truly care and appreciate them being there for you. For we all have friends and we all find something special about each and every one of them. For it is easy to find an acquaintance. It is hard to find a friend.
So, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope that you do understand that what I have tried to say. I also hope you understand, that is friend is not someone or something you take for granted. But, someone or something you should pray to the stars up of above for having. Also something you yourself my need to work harder at being. We are fortunate enough to be able to recognize and appreciate the meaning of friendship. So, let us recognize and appreciate those that have meant so much to us.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of my friends for being there for me. For if it was not for you. I would not be me.
