Using Jangl
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Service Requirements
Do I need to purchase or install special equipment or software to use Jangl?
No.
Can I use Jangl with my business phone or my VoIP phone?
You can use Jangl with these types of phones as long as the outbound Caller ID matches the number of your phone. Unfortunately, this means that if your company uses a single corporate number with multiple extensions (geeks call this a “PBX”), you will not be able to use your business phone with Jangl. VoIP phones displaying a different outbound Caller ID will also not work.
What do I need to get started?
All you need is a telephone with a US-based number, outbound Caller ID enabled, and, of course, someone you want to speak with. Self-Janglers are welcome too – no judgements.
Do I need Caller ID enabled at all times to use Jangl?
No. Your outbound Caller ID does not have to be enabled at all times. Outbound Caller ID is necessary when you first call to create a message and any time you dial a Jangl phone number. You do not need to have Caller ID enabled to receive calls from other people. Having inbound Caller ID (the ability for you to see the phone numbers of people who call you) does not matter at any time.
Signing Up
What do I do if someone gives me a Jangl?
Martha Stewart says that the polite thing to do is return the Jangl. In all seriousness, the information you need to return a Jangl call will be in plain view in the email you receive from Jangl. You can choose to listen to the Jangl message, register and return the call, or simply ignore the message.
Why does Jangl need my personal phone number?
During the registration we ask for your phone number so that we can verify your identity for delivery of Jangl calls. We don’t do this when using Call Anyone because we use call identification to recognize where to route replies. At no point do we disclose your phone number to anyone. To see more information on privacy, please read our privacy policy.

Jangl’s take on privacy
Does anyone ever see my personal phone number?
Absolutely not. When you call someone using a Jangl phone number, only the Jangl phone number is displayed in the other person’s Caller ID. Your personal phone number will never be revealed.
Furthermore, at Jangl, we are tirelessly committed to protecting the privacy of our users, and have taken great steps to ensure that your information is protected and to eliminate any chance of fraud. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect and we will continue to enhance our security procedures as new technology becomes available.
Please read our privacy policy for more information.
How does my call show up on a phone bill when I make or receive calls to/from a Jangl phone number?
Your real phone number and the real phone numbers of the people you connect with using Jangl are never revealed on a phone bill. If you use a Jangl number to call other people, your itemized phone bill would show the Jangl number that you dialed. Likewise, if someone uses a Jangl number to call you, your phone bill would show that you received a call from that Jangl number.
What is Jangl’s privacy policy?

Troubleshooting
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Registration
I am having problems signing up (I cannot create a PIN, or I can create a PIN but Jangl.com does not recognize me).
Please make sure that your outbound Caller ID is enabled, and that the outbound number matches your actual number (you can do a quick check by calling another phone and checking the Caller ID that shows up).
If you have verified these things and you are still having problems, send an email to support@jangl.com describing the issue and noting that you’ve already taken these steps.
