Orgin: Thoracic 2-5 (Spinous Processes)
Incertion: Vertebral border of scapula from root of spine to inferior angle
Action: Retraction
Downward rotation of scapula
Nerve: Dorsal scapular nerve (Cervial 5)
Palpate: Along vertebral border of scapula near the inferior angle during active scapular retraction
The rhomboidal-shaped muscles, when paired, form a "Christmas tree" shape due to the oblique and downward direction of the fibers.
