Annelid's blog: "Ramblings,thoughts and assorted stuff"

I’ve spent a lot of time on fubar and met some interesting people. Some bizarre, some kind and some I wouldn’t pee on if on fire.  Fubar, like society in general has its good and it’s bad, it’s ups and downs. I spent way too much time here, wishing for something to come true.  Perhaps I was looking for friendship and that all elusive thing we all crave, love.  No matter how witty one is, or well spoken, or thoughtful, it’s trumped by a nice set of breasts. .  Words fall on deaf ears.  It’s all a popularity contest and I’ve gotten to the point where I refuse to play anymore. I’ve left Facebook as well. I haven’t deleted it as I use it to communicate with family overseas but for my so called friends and associates on there, I will not communicate with them anymore.  I don’t care about your weekend plans, or who you nailed, or how drunk you got. It’s meaningless.  Do you honestly care about what I say?  The reality is no. We all want to puff out our chests and say “Here I am…look at me”, in this day of constant “supposed” instant communication and “social networking”. We’re not social networking, we’re crying for attention.

Don’t you want the old days? The day’s before AOL and chat rooms? Where if you wanted to talk to someone, you called them? You wrote a letter? You went to see them? Those days unfortunately are long gone (as I should have been, as I feel I’m a left over. I long for the days of simplicity). We now twitter, face book, myspace, foursquare ourselves silly, yet we’re all alone. Still silently screaming for companionship.  A flashing cursor in a chat room is what we have now. Or a garish flashing .gif to symbolize who we are,who we aspire to be.  Enough.   Step away from the damn computer. Go outside and breathe. Run in a field. Hug your kid. Walk a path never taken.  Read a book.  Do something instead of wasting your time in this black hole of energy. Whoring yourself over points and rates , am I worthy?
