Blue hair at drill — Saturday, January 06, 2007
I was a guidon bearer today. Funny shit. We had a change of command ceremony today. So there was sgt majors, and generals and shit. Well, same thing sometimes, but anyway. I didn't have a beret, so I had to use someone elses. I hadn't worn a beret to drill before. Well, it rubbed the black spaystuff off my hair. I went through the line and got a muffen, and a sgtmajor noticed my hair was slightly discolored. He then chewed out my supply sgt, who is only an e-5, but somehow she was in the 1sgt spot postition thing cuz there was no one else or something. That's a stupid fucking idea, I'm not sure how it came to be. She stopped me from getting my flue shot when I was about to get one to tell me I had to go fix my hair. It was some kind of emergency or something to her. I still got my shot before I left. She was talking about how I had to show her a reciept of permanent hair dye when I got back, or I wouldn't get paid for the day. So it turned into a big deal, and then I had to talk to a 1sgt that didn't think I was showing the proper respect while I was talking to her. I think he was right The proper respect would have to just bitchslapped her, and then walked away. ( I didn't mention that part while I was talking to him obviously. ) The blue in my hair was barely showing, most people I talked to thought the whole thing was nuts. ( but they could have been just been humoring me, or being nice or something. ) Basicly, I just got an early lunch, I fixed it and came back. It wasn't a bigdeal by the time I got back. ( Proably cuz the sgtmajor had left. ) They just thanked me for fixing my hair. I thought that was stupid, they don't need to thank me, I was just following the rules. I wasn't arguing that I was wrong for having my hair like that in uniform. I just got pissed off when it was said it wasn't allowed to have my hair like that at all, and that somehow I didn't have the appearance of a soldier. Being a soldier, I obviously had the appearance of one, since I am one, it's impossible not to look like one. Yah, people are fucking stupid when it comes down to it. Other than that, I didn't do much today. I sorted some medical stuff after lunch, all kinds of interesting instraments. That afternoon, we had a new seargent in the company. An E-6. She took the place of the 1sgt. So atleast it's not the supply girl with the attitude, supply girls have a big enough powertrip and attitude without being in that spot.
Another note about the change of command ceremony. We go do a special important mission thing in june. We only meet like 2 days a month. We wasted a whole day basicly, 2 mornings, on the change of command ceremony. There's some nice prioraties, and excellent time management.......
