My wings are broken, my hands are black

I try to get up but chains hold me back

Pulling and tugging they will not break

If this is a dream I’m sleeping awake

Hair is all matted with tangles and dirt

5 holes in my jeans and one in my shirt

My hope it is lost, behind tears in my eyes

My teeth are all rotting from telling your lies

The chains they are strong and I struggle to move

But I have to break free I have something to prove

I pull and I pull till the chains cut me deep

I fall to my knees and do nothing but weep

@

I can not escape they’re holding me back

And no one sees me, just the things that I lack

Twisting and turning the chains only rattle

I am determined… I will win this battle

My faith it is tattered like the cloths that I wear

My heart it is broken, but I do nothing but care

My hands they are callused from pulling on chains

My body is weak from resisting the pains

@

My strength it is useless, these chains will not fail

My courage is fighting though it is frail

I’m tattered and tired I just want a break

I will not give up I wont die in this state

I pull one last time in hopes to unchain

And to my surprise my freedom I gain

I walk quickly away from the place of restriction

That was my life and looks like its fiction

@

Walking away I gain back my attraction

As I walk by I see peoples reaction

My wings are mended my skin untainted

I look around and see you as painted

@

Because I had fallen, because I was down

You though you could walk on me make me your ground

You are so judgmental so set on good looks

You didn’t see what I was,…. an angel from books
