A Song From Your Childhood - Day 29:

I'm Goin' Down by Mary J, Blige

When I think of music in my childhood, I think of riding in the back seat of whatever car my mom is driving. Which always is R&B playing.  So I heard Boys II Men, Silk, and many others but no one was played more by my mom than Mary J. Blige.  A million times more than anyone else.  That's who my mom loved more than anyone and she filled my childhood.  Mary represented many young black women during the whole 90's. Even though I'm not one who is much into R&B, I know artist like Mary J. Blige are part of my love for music as a whole.  You felt the emotion from her and i'm an emotional person and respects that in all artists. Everyone knows this song.  If you heard this song before you know it.  Its one of those songs you couldn't hate. You had to sing with her. It's a cover of a song originally done by Rose Royce.

Your Favorite Song - Day 01:

Shining Down by Lupe Fiasco

When I first heard this song I want to say in 2009 or early 2010 way before it was used in NFS Hot Pursuit, right from the first second I just fell in love with it.  The chorus just speaks about me and how I am towards people. The flow of the song just grabs me and I feel its a shame it didnt become a hit for Lupe all because it was partly leaked out during his situation with his record company.  They put his album on the backburner and he had to fight to get it put out. His fans picketed and boycotted outside the record company's main offices last year and forced their hand.  L.A.S.E.R.S became a number 1 album. This song plays off the way his hit Superstar plays but it just feels more dramatic.  I'm a huge Lupe fan.  From his mixtapes to his albums and everything he touches I have to hear it. A song can not be a favorite song unless it makes you stop what you doing everytime you hear it and grabs your attention.  This song does it for me.  When I hear it, I give it all my attention because I always feel like that i'm always around for all.  Always leaving my door open.  Always shining down on any one who needs it.  Even when it seems i'm not around.

A Song That Makes You Laugh - Day 25:

No Sex In The Champagne Room by Chris Rock

Saying Chris Rock made a song is funny by itself. He's not singing but its a funny song.  It's one of a few I remember of his but its funny as hell. Anyway i'm keeping this one short. All you need to know is this. No matter what a stripper tells you, there is NO SEX in the CHAMPAGNE ROOM...NONE!

A Song That Makes You Happy - Day 03:

Hollywood by Art vs Science

I first heard this song on NBA 2K11, which is a basketball video game for those who dont know. I cant be sad, frustrated, or angry when I heard this song play.  It's so nerdy to me.  The nerd in me just rocks on to this.  Honestly I can picture 4 dudes in a car, rocking out to this song like Wayne and Garth did to Bohemian Rhapsody. I know that sounds crazy but that's why this song makes me happy every fucking time I hear it. Its only about 9 words said in the whole song. That's all you need sometimes. I know nothing of the group.  I need to listen to other songs of theirs but I haven't but just love this song. Thanks to a video game.

A Song That You Want To Play At Your Wedding - Day 23:

Lost Without You by Robin Thicke

This was the harderst one to think of a song for all because I never picture myself getting married.  I've only been to 2 weddings and one I dont remember because I was very young.  I have pictures that tells me I was there. The one I remember was my Uncle's. Anyway, what is a wedding song?  I have no clue.  So I just chose a nice love song basically that I like. Robin Thicke I remember first hearing him in a video that he's riding a bike through the city and have this long long hair.  He comes back with a new look and just blows my mind with his album The Evolution of Robin Thicke.  I have the album. I love the album.  This song was probably his biggest hit from the album, was huge on the R&B stations.  So I hope this fits as a wedding song but if not who cares, I'll play it at mines if I somehow have one.  I doubt but you never know.

A Song That Reminds You Of Someone - Day 05:

Kissing You by Total

I dont have a song that really makes me think of someone.  I have a few that brings back memories with people, mostly ex-grilfriends.  So I chose this song since you cant help but to think of the person you are with and just want them in your arms.  Yeah i'm getting mushy right now. Now when this song plays I want to kiss my girl. Total was one of those groups we thought would be here for a long run.  It didnt happen.  Another artist in the history of Bad Boy records that just disappeared after the death of Biggie and the beginning of Diddy's failures with artists.  It's like everyone in the 5 years after his death just dropped from the industry.  I enjoyed their music, they have about six or seven songs I like and this is one.

A Song That You Listen To When You're Happy - Day 21:

I'd Rather Be With You by Bootsy Collins

When i'm happy, got to listen to music that just makes you feel better and better.or puts you in a mood to get down and dirty.  You want to feel good.  Usually for me that's music from the 70s, or 80s. Now Bootsy is one of those characters that you just have to love. They considered him the Jimi Hendrix of the bass guitar.  So I had to pick him for this and pick this song.  I heard this song for the first time because of my mom, searching it for her. When I seen this live performance and how he was, got to love it. Just watch the video.

A Song That You Can Dance To - Day 09:

Soft Shock by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

From the sound of this song it may not at first seem like a dance song, but for me I picture Dirty Dancing.  I picture an update version of Dirty Dancing.  I dont know why but I do.  So i've thought about how two could move to this song and incorpriate some of the moves from that movie in it.  Thje Yeah Yeah Yeahs are one of my favorite groups.  Love them to death.  They are very abstract.  So many songs I play loud with no hesitation.  They have many styles and just a very underrated group in my opinion. So when you listen to this, can you see what I see?  Can you find yourself dancing to this?

A Song That Is A Guilty Pleasure - Day 13:

Tearin Up My Heart by NSync

Ok I admit it, I'm an NSync fan. So take that Backstreet Boys!!!!! I for a while had to sneak their songs in when no one was looking and silently in my room sing them.  Also dance to them in their videos while watching, oh i was doing the dance sequence to Pop while in high school.  What can I say, they had a part of music history in their hands. So the one song of theirs I easily know the words to is this one and it pops in my head a lot even today.  It's my guilty pleasure. Caught me red handed.

A Song You Wish You Heard On The Radio - Day 18:

ELEctrik HeaT / The SeekwiLL by K-os

A product of Canada, K-os is a singer and rapper.  One person that needs to be heard more of in the states.  One of my favorite artists. I first heard of him from his song Superstar pt Zero which the video was played on MTV Jams, which was like a hiphop MTV station i had when I had cable. You got more of hip hop there than anywhere. Anyway music like his should be on the radio more.  It wont be.  Especially the further you get from Canada.  Maybe the northern states have played his music some. Love his stuff.
