For a movie that is currently not scheduled to be made, "Halo" is sure releasing lots of shorts. In this third one, we get to see lots more violence, lots more blood and more footage than before. Similar to the first two shorts released, it is once again directed by Neil Blomkamp, the same person that's currently in talks to helm the theatrical version.
Studios have stayed clear of the "Halo" movie for many reasons; there is the fact that Microsoft doesn't want to give up too much and there is also the fact that Blomkamp only has a few commercials on his resume. Handing over the project to a newcomer, for which the budget could be hundreds of millions of dollars, would make anyone nervous.
The new short is comprised of shaky footage and seems to resemble the actual game. The special effects are done by Peter Jackson's WETA Digital, the same company behind "Lord of the Rings," "I, Robot" and "King Kong."
