I got lost on the road to absolution.
There were no signs, no maps, plenty of people telling me how to get there.
Too many.
On the highway of life, I got stuck in the slow lane, jammed between 2 sixteen wheelers and a blind gramma who barks orders to her family, and keeps running into the garage.
I'm a fireproof soul,
but I can't see the light for the sun.
You do what you have to to survive.
Love yourself
lie to yourself
pick yourself up by stepping on everyone else.
Me, I'm gonna walk the path lined with gravel
not bones and burnt bridges.
It's a brand new day of MY life
how am I gonna waste it this time?
Worrying whether or not you find me attractive?
Or fighting my gag reflex as I drop more burning swill in my willing calloused craw?
The light is engulfing me,
but I can't see.
Not with fire and brimstone
not with cool understanding and peace.
An absentee vote.
A dismissive shrug without a smile.
What more would you really expect?
