I have been watching rocks grow and trees smile

And drinking tea from an empty cup.

And I have discerned that...

Past the measure of time’s final footsteps…

Past the ebb and flow of the ocean’s last tide…

After the final arching of the last cloud’s tear…

I shall still long for your smile.

Is it not enough?

…To love deep and true and hard

And share of that love together

Without comment or worry about lost-love-lost?

…To care enough to give a damn?

…To love with earnest passion,

Trust with open mind and heart and feel earnest

Pain when told of past crosses borne.

…To wish to touch your cheek

One time before my life does end, and

To stand in speechless awe before

That which you have placed in my heart?

On what distant shore might we run?

Under what degree of burning sun?

Would we have to travel far

Before our future becomes our past and

Our specialove proves it may stand time's test?

I do not know…but for my part I shall wager

All that I have on God's single roll of cosmic dice

And to that end…

I may even beg to place them

In the palm of his hand.
