Night time...
Sweet beddy-bye hour
When Life is finally calm;
I snuggle up closer to you,
Soft nibbles on your skin
In hopes of a sweet treat.
I know I caught you dreaming
Of the peace and quiet
That eluded you during a day
Spent chasing after kids,
Cleaning up messes,
Kissing boo-boos and ouchies
Along the way.
Even so, let me offer you
An even better dream
Of tickling each other's fancies
And turning this winter night
Into our own personal tropics.
Let that delicious thought simmer
While I go and soothe the baby
Whose nightmare upset him,
Disturbing his peace and ours.
Once I've returned,
And gathered your once-again
Sleeping form into my arms,
I will keep the dream
For both of us.
