If that doesn’t sound correct to you, it shouldn’t. Neither should Happy Memorial Day.
Enjoy that bbq. Get that sale. That freedom, it’s what they wanted.
Just please remember. Remember why you are doing it.
Memorial Day is not a day to celebrate military service. That is Veterans Day.
It is not a day to celebrate Old Glory. That is Flag Day.
Nor is it a day to celebrate what it means to be an American. That is the Fourth of July.
All of those holidays are wonderful and they are all very close to me. I am a patriot and hold all those days close to my heart.
Memorial Day is a day of remembrance. We remember those that died during their military service protecting what it means to be an American that allows us to fly Old Glory.
We don't have the reasons to celebrate any of those holidays without the reason we have Memorial Day.
To all the families that have paid the ultimate price, in honor of your loved ones, I thank you. Know that they are not, and will never be, forgotten.
