St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Garrett Stutz scored 16 points to lead the Wichita State Shockers to a 70-56 victory over the Bradley Braves in quarterfinal round action at the Scottrade Center. Joe Ragland added 11 points for the Shockers (24-7), who will now head to the semifinal round where they will meet Indiana State. Andrew Warren registered 17 points for Bradley (12-20), while Dodie Dunson and Will Egolf posted 14 and 12 points, respectively, in the loss. The Shockers went into the break with a commanding, 35-22 lead after limiting the Braves to a meager 29.2 percent shooting effort. Wichita State was not overwhelming in the second half, shooting just 41.4 percent from the floor, but the team had the game under control and cruised to the victory. The Shockers won the battle on the glass by a 39-29 margin. Adam Hayward Jersey . (Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings will aim for a 2-0 series lead when they host the Phoenix Coyotes today at Joe Louis Arena for Game 2 of the best- of-seven Western Conference quarterfinals. The third-seeded Red Wings, who won the Central Division for the ninth time in 10 seasons this year, recorded a 4-2 victory over the visiting Coyotes in Wednesdays Game 1 in the Motor City to grab the early advantage in the series. Johan Franzen picked up a goal and one assist and Detroit used a three-goal second period to down Phoenix in the opener. For Franzen, it marked his 13th straight playoff game with a point. Good for him and good for us, said Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock about Franzen. With him getting a goal and seeing his line get a couple, it was a definite positive to the outcome. Pavel Datsyuk, Jiri Hudler and Brian Rafalski also tallied for the Red Wings, while Jimmy Howard stopped 26 shots. It marked the 54th straight time Detroit has won a playoff game when scoring four or more goals. Detroit won Game 1 despite not having leading scorer Henrik Zetterberg in the lineup. Zetterberg, who led Detroit with 80 points during the regular season, is dealing with a lower body injury and he is expected to miss todays game as well. Kyle Turris and Radim Vrbata scored in Game 1 for the Coyotes, who fell behind in the set despite 32 stops from Ilya Bryzgalov. Phoenix went 0-for--6 on the power play in the loss.dddddddddddd We fell behind after taking that lead with the initial burst. It could have been the difference in the game. We needed better execution, especially in the first period, said Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett about the wealth of power- play chances the club failed to convert early on after scoring the games first goal. Phoenix defenseman Derek Morris missed Game 1 with an upper body injury and is questionable for today. This series is a rematch of a first-round matchup from last season. Detroit won that set by taking Game 7 on the road. The sixth-seeded Coyotes have never won a postseason series since moving to Phoenix from Winnipeg. Phoenix has lost 17th times in its 19 all-time playoff series dating back to the franchises days as the Jets. The club hasnt won a postseason series since Winnipeg bested Calgary in 1987 . Similar to last years playoff meeting, the 2010-11 season series was a tight matchup with each team winning twice. However, both of Detroits victories came past regulation, while Phoenix also won a shootout over the Red Wings. Detroit has won all three of its playoff meetings against the Winnipeg/Phoenix franchise. This series will shift to the desert for Games 3 and 4 and the Coyotes will host the next test on Monday. The Red Wings were 21-14-6 on home ice this year, while Phoenix was 22-13-6 as the guest. ' ' '

TORONTO -- Theyve secured an AHL playoff spot and the North Division title, now the Toronto Marlies are eyeing top spot in the Western Conference. Ryan Hamilton scored midway through the third to lift the Toronto Marlies over the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in their final home game of the regular season at Ricoh Coliseum. Nicolas Deschamps also scored for the Marlies and Ben Scrivens made 26 saves as Toronto (44-23-7) moved into a tie for top spot in the AHL Western Conference. Greg Scott added an empty-netter in the final seconds. The Marlies are tied with Oklahoma City with 95 points but the Barons have a game in hand. "Were tied for first in the conference so we would love to have that first overall place," said Hamilton. "I know Oklahomas got a game in hand on us but thats our goal. We want to be first. We want to win every game." Joonas Nattinen opened the scoring in the first for the Bulldogs (32-34-7). Hamilton got the winner at 9:28 of the third after being sprung on a pass through the middle by Jake Gardner, one of a handful of players sent to the Marlies by the Maple Leafs at the conclusion of their season. Hamilton split a pair of Bulldogs defenders and beat Robert Mayer in the Hamilton goal for his 25th goal of the season. Scrivens got the start less than 24 hours after starting for the parent Maple Leafs in their final game of the season in Montreal on Saturday night. "Weve got a great group of guys in this room and it makes it really easy to come to the rink every day," said Scrivens. Mayer made 23 saves for Hamilton. "Its been a tough year," said Aaron Palushaj, who is one of a number of players the Canadiens sent down after they finished their season Saturday. "You like to get comfortable in one spot, its tough going up and down." Nattinens goal came off a nice pass from Brian Willsie, who touched the puck to Nattinen right before getting hit by a Marlies player. Nattinen then went upstairs with a shot from the slot. The rest of the first period was a steady stream to the penalty box. After fighting Marlies Kelsey Wilson, Bulldogs defenceman Zack Fitzgerald then jumped on Colton Orr on the way to the penalty box for a second fight in mere seconds. Fitzgerald was given two fighting penalties on the play and both he and Orr were given game misconducts. Deschamps got things tied up at 18:37 on the power play. He skated around Andreas Engqvist and then beat Mayer with a shot to the far side. Scrivens stopped Phil DeSimone on a penalty shot with about four minutes left in the second period. Toronto concludes the regular season with games against the Heat in Abbotsford on Friday and Sunday. Having a top-2 place in the Western Conference guaranteed doesnt mean the Marlies plan to ease off down the stretch. "We will prepare to win and I just think its dangerous to start resting or take your foot off the pedal," said head coach Dallas Eakins. "At the same time were not going to kill ourselves trying to get the top spot." Cheap nfl Jerseys . But it might be his best. A win this week in the Arnold Palmer Invitational would allow Woods to go back to No. 1 for the first time since the end of October in 2010. Woods not only is the defending champion at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he is a seven-time winner at Bay Hill. Not only does his game look sharp, Woods already has two wins this year, both of them with comfortable margins on the back nine at Torrey Pines and Doral. And his peers are paying attention. "The one thing I dont think you give Tiger enough credit for is every time I see him tee it up, he hits it on the centre of the bat -- hits is solidly all the time," said Brandt Snedeker, who has done his viewing on television after sitting out the last five weeks with a rib injury. "That is a very underrated quality. Not very many guys do that. When guys have an off week, they tend to mishit it. When Tiger has an off week, its not like that." Graeme McDowell saw it on the weekend at Doral, where he did his best to make up a deficit and Woods always had an answer, winning by two shots. McDowell also saw it a year ago at Bay Hill in fast, firm conditions that made it feel like Sunday at the U.S. Open. Woods closed with a 70 and won by five. "I think as difficult as this golf course played last year on Sunday afternoon, I watched the Tiger Woods thats won 14 major championships," McDowell said. "I watched a display of discipline. Conservative at times, but firing away from pins. When the golf course gets tougher, the guy is able to slip into a gear where he plays aggressive golf to conservative targets. "When hes playing well, hes hard to beat. Especially when the golf course is as difficult as this one was last year on Sunday afternoon." Woods sank to as low as No. 58 in November 2011 before making a gradual return toward the top, getting a power boost last year by winning three times. He went to the PGA Championship with a chance to reach No. 1 by winning, but then he failed to convert a 36-hole share of the lead. Rory McIlroy won at Kiawah Island, and with three more wins the rest of the way, the 23-year-old from Northern Ireland appeared to be entrenched at No. 1 for some time. As McIlroy has floundered this year, Woods has been charging. Whether it happens this week is of little consequence to Woods. He has long said that winning takes care of everything, especially the No. 1 ranking. Hes in no rush. But he is proud of his climb back to at least be in this position. "Were still getting better," Woods said. "Things are still becoming more efficient. These two wins Ive had this year, Ive built myself some nice leads, which means that Ive played really well, and things are starting to comee around and become more efficient day in and day out.dddddddddddd" Woods clearly is the favourite at Bay Hill considering his track record, even though Arnies place has thrown him a few curve balls. While he has won seven times, he has failed to crack the top 20 on five other occasions. The forecast is for scattered thunderstorms throughout the week, making it unlikely that Bay Hill will be as crusty as it was last year. The field is the strongest of the year for regular PGA Tour events, even without McIlroy playing. This is no longer Woods home, having move to south Florida. But his memories at Bay Hill date to winning the U.S. Junior Amateur in 1991. He met Palmer for the first time. Woods played Bay Hill as an amateur (he missed the cut) and once played in the Kings famous shootout game (Woods says he lost money). If thats not enough, both his children were born at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. "This place and this tournament have a very special place in my heart," Woods said. And this could be a special week, even though he looks at the big picture. "To get back to No. 1, Ive got to win this week -- not too complicated," Woods said. "As far as getting back to No. 1 and all that entails, its not easy to get there in the first place. I dont think people really realize how hard it is to become No. 1 in the world. But then to sustain it for a number of years is not easy, as well. Its about winning golf tournaments, and when you dont win, being in the top five and continue racking up points." Woods never used to think about No. 1 because he was there for so long, most of the time by such a large margin. What these last few years have taught him was the importance of good health. Woods missed his first major after winning the 2008 U.S. Open because of reconstructive knee surgery. That ended his streak of 46 consecutive majors, and ended his hope of a record Woods believes will never be broken -- Jack Nicklaus competed in 146 consecutive majors from the 1962 Masters through the 1998 U.S. Open. "Thats crazy, isnt it?" Woods said. "Playing 146 tour events is pretty good." The Nicklaus record he really wants is 18 professional majors, and Woods will have to wait three weeks for the Masters to see if he can make up ground. Palmer hasnt ruled him out just yet. "I think right now looking at him and watching him play, as I have recently, he looks probably as strong and as good from a golf perspective as Ive ever seen him," Palmer said. "I think his swing and his posture and his attitude is far better than its been in some time. ... I give him a chance to do the record. I suppose that every year its a little more fleeting, however, and hell have to really work hard to keep himself up and keep his mental attitude if hes going to do it." ' ' '

HAMILTON, Ont. -- A two-goal deficit didnt intimidate the Rochester Americans, who are trying to stay in the playoff picture. The Americans scored three goals in three minutes in the third period en route to a 4-2 comeback win over the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League on Saturday. Rochester winger Evan Rankin said his team, which is fifth in the Western Conference but just five points ahead of eighth place, is desperate for points. "With 10 games or so left in this year, every point matters," said Rankin. "So coming out in the third period down a couple of goals, it doesnt really matter. You just have to do whatever you can to get the two points by the end of the game." Rankin had two goals for the Americans (37-26-4), while Jerome Gauthier-Leduc and Matt Ellis also scored and David Leggio made 22 saves in relief of starter Nathan Lieuwen. Brady Vail and Steve Quailer scored for the Bulldogs (27-33-6), and Dustin Tokarski stopped 26 shots in a losing effort. "We barely gave (Rochester) anything in two periods," said Hamilton head coach Sylvain Lefebvre . "But we came out in the third and made a few mistakes, and the puck ended up in the net. "Its very disappointing, because we really were having a good game up to that point, and we just let it go." The Bulldogs seemed to be well on the way to victory after two periods, but the Americans turned the game on its head in the third. Rochester denied Tokarskis shutout bid at 3:28 of the period, when Corey Tropp found Rankin in space on the left wing and he skated to the faceoff dot before snapping a quick wrist shot past the goaltenders outstretched glove. It was Rankin who struck again to level the game a minute and a half later. The winger skated in from the right and fired a low wrist shot that hit a sliding Bulldog defender, but continued to pressure the puck before Hamiltons Zack Stortini tipped it past his own goaltender at 5:52. Rochester completed its rapid comeback in another minute, as Gauthier-Leducs shot from the point travelled untouched through a maze of players in front, and eluded Tokarski at 6:53 of the third. The Americans added an empty-net goal through Ellis at 18:43. Leggio -- who has two shutouts at Copps Coliseum this season -- continued to haunt the Bulldogs. He produced several highlight-reel worthy saves in the third as his team held on to record its comeback victory. Rankin gave credit to Leggio for his excellent relief appearance on Saturday. "To be able to come in at the beginning of the second period and still end up with a star at the end of the game, thats pretty impressive," said Rankin. "He shut the door for us and really helped us out." Vail had the first scoring chance of the night five minutes into the opening period when a Rochester giveaway gave him a clear path to Lieuwen. He fired a low wrist shot from the slot that Lieuwen kicked aside, but tested the goaltender again on the rebound with a backhand effort. Vail was frustrated on that occasion, but found his first professional goal four minutes later. Peter Merth controlled the puck at the right point as traffic gathered in front of Lieuwen, and released a low shot that deflected off Vail as he fell and trickled past the Rochester goaltender at 8:46 of the first. It was a dominant opening period for the Bulldogs, who outshot their opposition 13-6 and threatened to double their lead on several occasions before the periods end. Lieuwen had played on after being shaken up in a collision with Hamiltons Joey Tenute in the early minutes of the first, but was replaced by Leggio to begin the second period, having stopped 12 shots. The physicality of the Bulldogs had them winning puck battles at both ends of the ice in the second, and even while their lead remained at one, they outplayed the Americans by a wide margin in the period. With less than a minute to play in the second, the line of Quailer, Vail and Leblanc struck for its second goal of the game, as Jarred Tinordis point shot tipped off the stick of Quailer and bounced past Leggio at 19:16. Lefebvre was impressed with the lines first outing together. "They were good," he said. "They were on the puck and they were good on the forecheck and created turnovers. Vail had a couple of chances in the first period, and they scored both of our goals."DeAndre Hopkins Texans Jersey . (Sports Network) - Jered Weaver tries to halt a personal three-game losing streak this evening when the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim open a two-game set with the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. Weaver put forth one of the best starts to a season ever, winning his first six outings, while pitching to a 0.99 earned run average. However, he has lost three starts since and has allowed 11 runs in doing so to raise his season ERA to a still-respectable 2.26. The right-handers most recent loss came on Friday in Texas, as the Rangers reached him for four runs and seven hits in six innings. He also fanned six in the setback and has struck out 61 batters in 63 2/3 innings this season. Weaver has dominated the Mariners over the course of his career, going 10-3 with a 3.65 ERA in 18 starts. Los Angeles can only hope Weaver is better than Tyler Chatwood was on Tuesday when the rookie surrendered seven runs (five earned) in just 2 1/3 innings of the Angels 14-0 loss to Oakland. He has great makeup, LA manager Mike Scioscia said of Chatwood. Sometimes when things go in the wrong direction, he tries to run through it. He had a rough start in Tampa, settled down and won the ballgame. He got some pitches elevated tonight. As bad as Chatwood was, Athletics starter Gio Gonzalez was just as good, giving up just one hit in seven innings. The Angels, who have lost three straight and five of their last six, sent the minimum to the plate in seven innings and had only two hits in the game, getting the second one in the ninth. He was good -- and we werent, said Angels first baseman Mark Trumbo.dddddddddddd He has that live fastball, 93 to 95 [mph], and a hard curveball, 80, 81. He was putting everything where he wanted it. We just couldnt get anything going. The Mariners also enter tonights tilt on a sour note after falling 2-1 to the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. Felix Hernandez gave up two runs in the first inning and that was all the Twins would need, as the Mariners mustered only three hits. Hernandez (4-4) went eight innings and allowed two runs on three hits and three walks. He also struck out nine in the Mariners seventh loss in their last eight games. (Felix was) a little erratic there early on, a couple walks, a fastball up to Cuddyer. He rights himself and the next thing you know, you look up, and its eight innings and still two runs, he did a great job. He was really good his last four or five innings, said Seattle manager Eric Wedge. Jason Vargas, a college teammate of Weavers at Long Beach State, takes the hill for the Mariners tonight trying to follow up a brilliant effort his last time out. Vargas tossed nine scoreless innings on Thursday against Baltimore, but came away with a no-decision, as the Orioles Zach Britton did the same. Seattle eventually lost the contest in extra innings, spoiling Vargas seven- hit gem. Vargas has faced the Angels seven times (six starts) and is 2-2 against them with a 2.45 ERA. The Angels won 15 of their 19 matchups with the Mariners last season, including seven of the nine meetings in Seattle. ' ' '

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Mario Williams was held out of the Buffalo Bills first training camp practice Sunday night after complaining of a sore foot. Coach Doug Marrone provided few details regarding the nature of the injury. He wouldnt say which foot Williams had hurt or how and when it happened. "Mario reported to our athletic training staff that he had a sore foot," Marrone said, following the two-plus hour session at the teams training camp facility in suburban Rochester. "So what we wanted to do was hold him out of practice and let our medical staff evaluate him." Marrone couldnt say how much time Williams might miss because the injury is still being evaluated. The Bills are back on the field Monday afternoon. Williams declined comment after practice, and deferred all questions to Marrone. After acknowledging he was disappointed to miss the opening session, Williams then apologized that he couldnt say anything more. Williams did not appear to be walking with a limp. He did not participate in any individual or team drills, and spent much of practice watching from the sideline with his helmet on. On several occasions, he was spotted bending over frontward to stretch out his back. The foot injury came as a surprise after Williams did not indicate he was experiencing any health issues upon reporting to camp on Friday. Williams was motivated upon arriving at camp, saying he wanted to put behind his inconsistent first season in Buffalo, which came after he signed a six-year, $100 million contract with the team in free agency. Williams led the Bills with 10-1/2 sacks, but his performance was hampered in the first half of the season because of a left wrist injury that was surgically repaired in late October. Starting defensive tackle Kyle Williams was limited in practice, as expected. The team intends to ease the player back in after Williams had surgery this off-season to remove bone spurs from his right foot. Cheap nike nfl Jerseys . It didnt take long. BARRIE, Ont. -- To no ones surprise, the Barrie Colts announced Friday they intend to select underage defenceman Aaron Ekblad with the top pick in the Ontario Hockey League draft. "This is another great step for our organization," said Colts president Howie Campbell. "Our ultimate goal is to win the Memorial Cup, and this will help us get there." The official selection will be made at the draft Saturday morning. The six-foot-three Ekblad, considered a star in the making, was granted exceptional player status to enter the draft as a 15-year-old (he was born in 1996) after an extensive physical and psychological review by Hockey Canada. The Belle River, Ont., native is the first player given exceptional status since John Tavares, who was picked first overall by the Oshawa Generals in 2005. "Hes the complete package," said Colts head scout and director of player personnel Darrell Woodley. "Hes a big defenceman who skates real well for a big guy. "Hes got great offensive skills and hes really committed to his own end. Hes just an all-around type of defenceman, similar to a Chris Pronger type." Ekblad has been playing up an age group this season for the Sun County Panthers minor midget squad, but moving to the OHL will be an even bigger jump. "Im excited to get started here in Barrie," Ekblad said. "Its a great city and Im looking forward to a great opportunity." He will go to a team that struggled to keep pucks out of its own net, having given up a league-worst 348 goals last season. The Colts were the youngest team in the OHL in 2010-11 but they have tangible assets already in place. Fellow Team Canada under-18 teammates Mark Scheifele, expected to be taken in the first two rounds of the upcoming NHL draft, and Eric Locke, already provide some scoring punch alongside veteran forward Colin Behenna. But now, the focus shifts back to the blue-line, where Ekblad is expected to give Barrie a boost. "Were very excited that Aarons going to be a part of the Barrie Colts," said head coach Dale Hawerchuk. "When I saw Aaron play for the first time, I knew he was going to be a special hockey player." Hawerchuk believes that Ekblad can make a difference. "Hes going to be a big part of our hockey club," Hawerchuk said. "Hes got a little more talent than some of the others, (and) thats what can help make great hockey clubs." It is only the second time in franchise history that the Colts have selected first overall. As an expansion team, they took Daniel Tkaczuk in 1995, but havent had the top pick -- or even missed the playoffs -- until this season. What will come after Ekblad in the draft remains a mystery. Max Domi, the son of rugged former NHL forward Tie Domi, and Jordan Subban, a rushing defenceman like his brother P.K., who plays for the Montreal Canadiens, are among the players up for grabs at the what the OHL calls its Priority Selection, rather than calling it a draft. Defenceman Darnell Nurse, winger Nicholas Ritchie and centre Nicholas Baptiste are others expected to go high in the draft of players born in 1995 or earlier. The Peterborough Petes hold the second pick, followed by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounnds, Sarnia Sting, Belleville Bulls, Sudbury Wolves, Brampton Battalion and the 13 other clubs.dddddddddddd Domi, an energetic forward who inherited his fathers stocky features at five-foot-eight, is considered good enough to be a top-5 pick but teams may lay off him because it is not clear that he will even play in the OHL. Domis camp said recently they would prefer he goes to the USHL next season and then to an American university, likely Michigan, but there is a feeling their minds may change if he is drafted by the right OHL team. That could be the Kingston Frontenacs, whose new general manager is Tie Domis old teammate Doug Gilmour, or Oshawa, which is close to home. Kingston picks eighth and Oshawa 16th. Subban is considered a nearly exact copy of his older brother -- a right-handed shooting defenceman who rushes the puck, makes spinorama moves to evade opponents but takes too many penalties. Belleville would no doubt love to have him. P.K. Subban was a Bull, and another impressive brother, goaltender Malcolm, also plays for the club. But another team may snap him up before the fifth pick. The hottest prospects are likely to be Nurse, a six-foot-three defenceman who is a strong skater, and Ritchie, a six-foot-two left-winger with speed and a scoring touch. There is also Baptiste, a right-handed shooting centre. The OHLs scouting report describes Nurse as "an outstanding two-way defender who contributes in all three zones. He possesses tremendous physical tools, size, strength and his play displays a high level of hockey IQ." For Ritchie, scouts say he "has the physical tools of a prototypical power forward while possessing a higher level of skill usually associated with a player with his physical stature. Overall, he might be the one player available this year that possesses all the ingredients you look for in a hockey player." And for Baptiste: "He has very good size, a tall and rangy frame with the potential to really fill out and get stronger. He also possesses a very good stick, he can handle the puck and makes plays, and most importantly he can to it while at top speed." If he is available at the fourth pick, Sarnia may want to grab Ritchie because his brother Brett already plays there, but it is believed that Peterborough is also interested. Sarnia had the first overall pick last year and took Alex Galchenyuk. In Sudbury, the Wolves are expected to take local product Ryan Kujawinski, a flashy centre. Bryson Cianfrone and Bo Horvat, smaller centres who are quick and good with the puck, should also go high, along with six-foot-two Jordan Maletta, who is said to be strong along the boards and could make a solid right-winger. Those looking for the next Ryan Ellis, the gifted but smaller Windsor Spitfires defenceman who has graduated from junior, may look to five-foot-11 Anthony DeAngelo or five-foot-10 Adam Bateman. There are two compensatory picks at the end of the first round -- Mississauga at 21st and Barrie at 22nd -- that were awarded when their first rounders last year opted not to report. The draft can be followed live at www.ontariohockeyleague.com beginning at 9 a.m. ET. --- -- Canadian Press sports writer Bill Beacon contributed to this report ' ' '

SECAUCUS, N.J. -- Carlos Correa was all smiles when he heard his name announced, knowing he had made hometown history at the baseball draft. The Houston Astros selected the 17-year-old slugging shortstop with the No. 1 pick Monday night, making him the first player from Puerto Rico to lead off the draft. "This means a lot," Correa said from the draft site at MLB Network studios. "Weve got a lot of good players there." Correa, however, is the only one to be drafted first from an island that has produced its share of baseball royalty: Roberto Clemente, Ivan Rodriguez, Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado, Juan Gonzalez, Bernie Williams. Some of those players signed as free agents -- catcher Ramon Castro had been the highest-drafted player out of Puerto Rico, going No. 17 to Houston in 1994. "I feel so excited to be the No. 1 pick," said Correa, who was congratulated by Delgado on Twitter. "Ive worked so hard to be here." It was the first time Houston had the top pick in the draft since 1992, when the Astros selected Phil Nevin -- passing on a young shortstop named Derek Jeter, who went five spots later to the Yankees. "I have read about that," Correa said, calling Jeter his idol as much for the New York captains character off the field as on. "I want to be like him. Hes awesome." First-year Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said Correa "has a chance to be a star" who could hit 20-30 home runs in the pros, whether its as a shortstop or "ultimately maybe third base." Correa said hed like to stay at shortstop, and he plans to use his signing bonus to help his family financially. As he walked to the podium and shook hands with Commissioner Bud Selig before a brief hug, Correa pulled out a small Puerto Rican flag and held it up to big cheers from the crowd of major league representatives and fans gathered in the stadium-themed studio. Correa was one of five players in attendance at the draft, but his introduction was far from the most entertaining. Texas high school outfielder Courtney Hawkins did a backflip -- after being prodded by a television reporter when a video was shown of him landing one -- a few moments after going No. 13 to the Chicago White Sox. The six-foot-three, 220-pound Hawkins, wearing a White Sox cap and jersey, spoke to general manager Kenny Williams right after he stuck his landing. "They said, Go do it, so I went and did it," a smiling Hawkins said. "But Mr. Williams said: No more." The Toronto Blue Jays had the 17th pick and took high school outfielder D.J. Davis before selecting Duke University reliever Marcus Stroman with the 22nd selection. The Blue Jays had three more picks and chose a trio of high school prospects, taking six-foot-eight, 220-pound left-hander Matt Smoral with the 50th pick, third baseman Mitch Nay at No. 58 and right-hander Tyler Gonzalez at No. 60. While the NFL has a few dozen players show up for its draft, baseball has slowly made its event a place to be with the televised first round and major league representatives on hand -- just a few years after it once was held entirely by conference call. The five players in attendance this year were the most since the draft moved to MLB Network studios in 2009. Joining Correa and Hawkins were Oklahoma State lefty Andrew Heaney (No. 9, Marlins), Louisiana high school shortstop Gavin Cecchini (No. 12, Mets) and Washington high school catcher Clint Coulter, who went 27th to the Brewers. Heaney, a draft-eligible sophomore, had tears in his eyes after Miami selected him. Sitting with the other prospects in a makeshift dugout, Heaney headed over to shake Seligs hand and soon was wearing a Marlins cap and jersey. "Thats about all that went through my mind is, dont trip," a beaming Heaney said. While recent drafts lacked first-pick intrigue, Luhnow said the Astros didnt settle on Correa until about an hour before they went on the clock. Several mock draft lists predicted the Astros would select Stanford right-hander Mark Appel, but instead Houston made a somewhat surprising selection -- although Correa was considered one of the top five players available. Appel slid a few spots lower than projected, going to Pittsburgh at No. 8. Correa has an incredibly strong arm and terrific instincts on defence, and the Astros hope theyve found a big-time bat for the middle of their lineup. The six-foot-four, 190-pound star from Santa Isabel starred at the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and is committed to the University of Miami, but is likely headed to Houstons farm system instead. "Right now, he stays at shortstop and if he was to happen to grow out of it, its the power thats the attraction here and its the middle of the order potential impact bat," Astros scouting director and assistant general manager Bobby Heck said. "So if he has to move, his profile is still very, very strong." With the second pick, Minnesota took speedy Georgia high school outfielder Byron Buxton, considered a five-tool player with a bat considered the best among all draft prospects. The Appling County High School star has blazing speed, an outstanding arm and plenty of range in the outfield. "Its an exciting feeling," Buxton told MLB Network. "Im just ready to go out and play ball." University of Florida catcher Mike Zunino, who has drawn comparisons to Jason Varitek for his leadership and ability to handle a pitching staff, was taken No. 3 overall by Seattle. Baltimore went with LSU right-hander Kevin Gausman with the fourth pick, adding a potential ace to its system. The draft-eligible sophomore has had a terrific season for the Tigers, going 11-1 with a 2.72 earned-run average and 128 strikeouts in 115 2-3 innings. Kansas City went with University of San Francisco right-hander Kyle Zimmer, a converted third baseman, with the No. 5 overall pick. "I was surprised because I was always sort of a hitter growing up. I guess the move paid off," Zimmer, already wearing a Royals cap, told MLB Network. The Dons ace went just 5-3, but had a 2.85 ERA with 104 Ks and only 17 walks in 88 1-3 innings. He threw consecutive shutouts during one stretch. "He was the No. 1 pitcher on our board," said Lonnie Goldberg, the Royals director of scouting. "I think everyone should know that. Hes the guy we wanted." The draft opened with uncertainty about the talent -- many teams considered this crop of players weaker than recent groups -- and several significant rule changes in place. Under baseballs new collective bargaining agreement, teams will have a pool of bonus money from which to sign players. The Astros, for example, have about US$11.2 million to use on bonuses for their 11 picks through the 10th round. The Twins, who have 13 picks in the top 10 rounds, have about $12.4 million. Teams face a punitive tax and the possibility of losing draft picks if they go over the prescribed bonus total. If a player doesnt sign, the team loses the amount for that slot. Clubs now have until mid-July to sign draft picks, instead of the previous mid-August deadline. Florida high school outfielder Albert Almora was selected sixth by the Chicago Cubs. Max Fried, a high school left-hander from California, was picked seventh by San Diego. Right-hander Lucas Giolito, Frieds teammate at Harvard-Westlake High School, was selected nine picks later by Washington despite not pitching since March because of a sprained elbow ligament. Pittsburgh, which selected UCLA righty Gerrit Cole with the top pick last year, went after pitching again in Appel. The ace of Stanfords staff has a mid-90s (mph) fastball and is 10-1 with a 2.27 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 119 innings for the Cardinal. In his last start before the draft, he avenged his only loss of the season by beating Fresno State in the NCAA tournament, fanning 11 in a dominant four-hitter. Colorado rounded out the first 10 picks by taking speedy Alabama high school outfielder David Dahl. Florida high school right-hander Lance McCullers Jr., the son of the former major league reliever, was drafted by Houston with the 10th pick of the compensation round, 41st overall. The first round and the initial compensation round were completed Monday night, with rounds 2 through 40 conducted over the next two days via conference call. Andre Johnson Authentic Jersey . Winnipeg Jets 4 Carolina Hurricanes 3 (OT) – The win over the Hurricanes ran the Jets winning streak to five. All five of the wins have come at the MTS Centre as the Jets have now played five of six games on their current home stand. The home stand ends against the surging New York Islanders onSaturday afternoon. (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). For the second straight game the Jets went to overtime. In both games the team saw a 3-1 lead disappear, and in both games the team found a way to win. Tuesday against Tampa it was via the shootout, against Carolina it was a winning goal early in overtime. With the win, the Jets remain tied on points for eighth in the Eastern Conference with the New York Rangers, although the Jets are officially ninth because the Rangers have a game in hand (the Rangers play in Buffalo on Friday). The Jets did however move to within two points of the Washington Capitals for top spot in the Southeast as the Capitals had their eight-game winning streak snapped in Ottawa. The Jets and Caps each have four games left with one head-to-head game in Washington remaining. The Jets have two home and two away games remaining. Zach Bogosian (4) opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period. It was the fifth time in the last six games that the Jets scored first. The Jets took a 2-0 lead on a power play goal by Paul Postma (4), after Ondrej Pavelec (nine straight starts) made three great saves in the first five minutes of the second period. Pavelecs best was a spectacular stick save to rob Justin Faulk. Tuomo Ruutu made it a 2-1 game with his first of the year and that is way the second period ended. Blake Wheeler (17) put the Jets ahead 3-1 but despite the Hurricanes being out of the playoff chase, there was no quit in their game as they had 24 shots on goal the last two periods, after being outshot 10-3 in the first. Ruutu with his second brought the Hurricanes to within one. Then, with their net empty in favour of the extra attacker, Alex Semin snapped a seven game goalless drought to tie the game with 1:12 to go for Carolina. In overtime Dustin Byfuglien (8) scored his second overtime winner of the year to give the Jets the two points. Byfuglien put home the rebound off an Andrew Ladd shot to give the Jets their longest winning streak of the season, and also their longest since the move to Winnipeg. It was another three point night for Ladd although he did have his three game goal-scoring streak snapped. His point streak is now at a season-high six games, tying his career high (4-8-12). Wheeler had his second straight three point night as well with a goal and two helpers to extend his point streak to five (3-7-10). Bryan Little chipped in with two assists to extend his point streak to five games (1-8-9) as well. In the five game win streak the line has combined for 30 points. Bogosian also had an assist for his third straight two-point game. The Jets have now won the last 15 games in which Little has recorded a point. Byfuglien had seven hits and six shots on goal to lead the team in both categories while Grant Clitsome lead in ice time at 25:58, his highest of the season. For Coach Claude Noel there was lots of emotion over the past two games with a shoot-out win followed by an overtime win. "But we found a way to win two games in a row. Not the way you would draw it up, but its the way were doing it. It was good for us to win, were the team dealing with pressure and stress. For us lots to lose. So win the game was tied were nervous, theyre not," he said. When the Byfuglien goal ended the game, "glad we got two points, but I wasnt doing cartwheels." Wholesale NFL Jerseys from china. -- Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young has returned to the team. Wholesale Jerseys from china . -- Graeme McDowell knew it was a mistake as soon as he glanced up at the scoreboard. http://www.usnewjerseyscheap.com/ . -- If he had it do over again, U. Cheap NFL Jerseys free shipping . (Sports Network) - Owners of the best record in baseball, the Colorado Rockies welcome the National League West rival San Francisco Giants to town tonight for the first of three straight games at Coors Field. The Rockies have won 12 of 15 to begin the season and have already surpassed their win total from April of last year, when they won just 11 games. Colorado had a seven-game win streak end with a loss on Saturday, but took yesterdays rubber match of a three-game set with Chicago by a 9-5 margin thanks to a four-run eighth inning. All four runs came with two outs and Dexter Fowler got things started with a two-run double. Jonathan Herrera and Carlos Gonzalez followed with RBI singles and Gonzalez ended 4-for-5 with a pair of runs batted in. Rafael Betancourt recorded the final two outs of the eighth for the win. Its a nice start Ill tell you that. The fashion that weve done it makes it more impressive. Todays game is obviously what weve been doing all year. Staying in games and winning them late, said Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. Colorado hands the ball tonight to Esmil Rogers, who has won both of his starts this year while pitching to a 2.77 earned run average. After besting the Pirates on April 7 with 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball, working around four hits and a walk, the right-hander needed to work a little harder next time out. Rogers gave up three runs on seven hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings of a 5-4 win at the Mets on Wednesday. The 25-year-old is 0-1 with a 7.07 ERA in four career games versus the Giants, including two starts, giving up 11 earned runs over 14 innings. Rogers draws some tough competition tonight in Giants ace Tim Lincecum, who will be looking to rebound tonight after a no-decision last time out. The right-hander split his first two starts before yielding three runs on six hits and a walk over 5 1/3 innings versus the Dodgers on Tuesday. The 26-year-old rightys ERA jumped from 0.64 to 1.86 and he went 2-2 with a 2.93 ERA in four starts against Colorado last year. The Giants will also be looking to get on track after having a four-game win streak snapped in Sundays 6-5 setback to the Diamondbacks in 12 innings. Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval hit back-to-back home runs to highlight a four-run sixth inning for the Giants, while starter Madison Bumgarner gave up four runs over 6 2/3 innings of a no-decision. We won our last three series. Thats all you really want to do, said Aubrey Huff, who had a solo homer. Its tough to sweep, especially on the road. The Giants and Rockies are meeting for the first time since splitting 18 matchups a season ago. cheap jerseys online . The 20-year-old rookie lost a tooth while scoring his first NHL hat trick in a fight-filled, emotional 6-1 win that gave Ottawa a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven quarter-final series. The 20,249 on hand at Scotiabank Place could be heard chanting Pageaus name and the Ottawa native says hes hopeful to give them the opportunity to do it again. "It was good motivation and forced me to push myself to keep going," said Pageau. "They liked my game and I didnt want to disappoint them after that." The third period started out with the Senators leading 2-1, but after Pageaus second goal of the night and a Kyle Turris marker made it 4-1, emotions overflowed and a line brawl broke out at centre ice. Turris goal, his first of the series, seven minutes in put the game out of reach and on the ensuing faceoff five different fights broke out. "I thought we handled ourselves well under the circumstances and the duress we were put under and we defended ourselves," said Ottawa coach Paul MacLean. The Senators ended up with the man advantage after the brawl and Jakob Silfverberg scored on the power play as he beat Habs goalie Carey Price up high to make it 5-1 with over 12 minutes remaining. More penalties were taken and at one point Ottawa was left with just five players on the bench, while Montreal had six. Ottawas veteran forward Daniel Alfredsson finished the game playing defence. A total of 236 penalty minutes was handed out, with 129 to Montreal and 107 to Ottawa, setting a new record. After the game Montreal coach Michel Therien took exception with MacLean calling a timeout with 17 seconds remaining. In Theriens opinion MacLean was trying to embarrass and humiliate the Canadiens. "As far as Im concerned that was classless," said Therien. With so few players on his bench and things already out of hand MacLean felt he had no other option than to call a timeout to get his message to his players. "I didnt want anyone to get hurt, it was already getting dumb enough as it was," said MacLean. "I have two important players on my team and I still have games to play. Were not giving them a freebie. Theres already enough of that." MacLean went on to say that he was protecting his players and he would do it again. This is the second time Therien has taken issue with MacLean. "I dont like when a coach is making comments," said Therien. "I dont like a coach when trying to humiliate our team. I dont like that." MacLean wasnt overly impressed by the actions of the Canadiens and is hopeful the league will review certain aspects of the game including Josh Gorges intentionally shooting the puck at Turris at the end of the game. Pageau completed the hat trick, just the second player in Senators history to score a hat trick in the playoffs after Alfredsson did it in 1998, with less than two minutes remaining in regulation. Less than a month ago Pageau was playing in the AHL, but his strong play hass earned him the confidence of MacLean.dddddddddddd "It was a great night for the kid," said MacLean. "Hes come in and played very, very well for us. Were really pleased for him, hes been a good player." "He played a great game," added Alfredsson. "He had some great shots, picked the corners and it was fun for him." Alfredsson scored Ottawas opening goal and Craig Anderson stopped 33 shots. Price faced 30 shots in a game he will want to forget. Rene Bourque scored the lone goal for the Canadiens at 14:34 of the first. Captain Brian Gionta and Max Pacioretty, who both missed Game 2, were back in the lineup for the Canadiens. Pageau, with his first career playoff goal, gave the Senators a 2-1 lead early in the second as he slipped between defencemen P.K. Subban and Andrei Markov to beat Price over the shoulder. Pageau is not likely to forget the goal as he was hit in the mouth by Subban on the goal and lost a tooth. Players could be seen looking for the tooth on the ensuing goal celebration. "I might put it under my pillow and see what happens," joked Pageau. Strangely enough a player has lost a tooth in all three games and whichever team ends up toothless has won the game. The Canadiens had a couple of great chances to tie the game in the second, but came up short. Alex Galchenyuk was stopped by Anderson as he came racing in alone, and then with Montreal on the power play, Tomas Plekanec rang a shot off the crossbar. The Canadiens werent pleased with their overall effort and know they need to stick a better game plan looking ahead to Game 4 on Tuesday. "Our problem was we tried to make plays that werent there," said Gorges. "We werent in our structure, we werent in our system and when were not were chaotic. "We knew they were going to come hard, we just didnt play a good fundamental game." A physical first period ended with the teams tied 1-1. The Senators made the most of a 28-second two man advantage as Alfredsson picked up his own rebound at his feet and quickly rifled it past the right of Price. It was the Senators first power-play goal of the series. Montreal tied the game with a power-play goal of its own as Plekanec found Bourque to create a two-on-one. Bourques shot looked harmless enough, but the change of speed seemed to throw Anderson off and he was unable to get over in time and he could only watch as the puck trickled across the goal line. The Senators were forced to play most of the game with just five defencemen as Patrick Wiercioch, making his playoff debut, left the game midway through the first with a lower body injury and never returned. He will be re-evaluated Monday. Notes: The Senators are without C Jason Spezza (back, indefinitely). D Eric Gryba served the second and final game of his suspension. Guillaume Latendresse and Andre Benoit were healthy scratches for the Senators in favour of Cory Conacher and Patrick Wierciocha With Pacioretty and Gionta back in the lineup, Jeff Halpern and Gabriel Dumont were scratched. MOSCOW -- Returning to the city where he was born, Alex Bogomolov Jr. rallied to beat Serbian qualifier Dusan Lajovic 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on his Kremlin Cup debut Tuesday. Watched by his father, a renowned tennis coach in the former Soviet Union, the fifth-seeded American made a nervous start by dropping the first set and then gave up a 4-1 lead in the deciding set before coming through. "Four-four (in the third set) was serious, but I returned well a couple of times and then finished fine and thats the main thing," Bogomolov Jr. said. It also was a celebratory night for Russian qualifier Ekaterina Ivanova, who defeated former No. 1 Jelena Jankovic of Serbia 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. Bogomolov Jr. was born in Moscow but moved to Mexico with his family when he was nine and then to the United States about two years later. His father coached Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Andrei Medvedev, among others. Bogomolov Jr. is making only his second visit to Moscow, where his father now lives, in the past nine years and has been accompanied by his Brazilian wife and their two-year-old son. He said his young son is so confused by the three languages in his life that he has hardly said a word yet. In other matches Tuesday, Russian pair Svetlana Kuznetsova and Dmitry Tursunov and Gilles Muller of Luxembourg advanced to the second round with straight-set victories. Ivanova beat the 13th-ranked Jankovic by battling back in the third set, finally breaking her in game nine to go up 5-4. "In the second set I lost my concentration out of tiredness, but in the third set I used my last bit of strength to win," Ivanova said. She will play the winner of Wednesdays match between Russians Elena Vesnina and Alla Kudryavtseva. Jankovic, the 2008 Kremlin Cup champion, blamed her loss on tiredness. "I felt sleepy out there and in slow motion, it wasnt my day," she said. "Its the end of the season, and Im looking forward to resting and coming back stronger in 2012." Sixth-seeded Kuznetsova beat French qualifier Alize Cornet 6-3, 6-3, while seventh-seeded Muller hit 19 aces on his way to a 7-6 (5), 6-4 victory over Russian qualifier Konstantin Kravchukin. Sixth-seeded Tursunov defeated Spains Albert Ramos 7-6 (5), 6-4. Kuznetsova, ranked 19th, controlled Cornet, whom she broke twice to lead 4-1 on her way to securing the first set. The two-time Grand Slam winner rallied from 2-0 down in the second set, winning five consecutive games to take it in front of her home crowd. Muller, ranked 50th, saved two break points in the opening game and prevailed in a first-set tiebreaker before breaking decisively in the first game of the second set. Muller will play Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany, who ousted Carlos Berlocq of Argentina 7-5, 6-3, in the second round. Tursunov, ranked 40th, went down 2-5 in the first-set tiebreaker before taking the next five points and the set. He then broke Ramos in the first game of the second set and held serve for the win. He will play the winner of Wednesdays match between Julien Benneteau of France and Evgeny Donskoy of Russia. In womens first round play, Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria advanced after Petra Martic of Croatia retired with a left foot injury after losing the first set 6-1. Ksenia Pervak was another Russian to reach the second round after a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan. "I beat her (Voskoboeva) three times this season and all the matches were tough," Pervak said. "She is a hard server. But today I played better at key moments and I was a bit lucky." After qualifying fourth, the now 22-year-old out of New Liskeard, Ontario finished sixth to prove that he could compete with Canadas best stock-car competitors. In three subsequent races on that same half-mile oval Mathews has driven his No. 15 Bill Mathews Motors Ford to two more top-10 finishes and a start from the outside pole position a year ago in the Clarington 200. After 22 series starts - primarily on ovals - across five seasons now, Mathews, who scored a series career-best finish of third on June 15 at Delaware (Ontario) Speedway, has three top-five finishes and two pole wins. While not an indictment on his performance Mathews notes the glaring lack of a victory. Considering the competition, its not a huge red flag, but he thinks its past time to go to Victory Lane. Further whetting his appetite for a win was last Septembers battle at Barrie (Ontario) Speedway. Mathews started from the pole position and had a late-race lead before tangling with some ttraffic resulting in a disappointing finish in fourth.dddddddddddd "I really thought we had that one, but it didnt work out," said Mathews. "When you get that close it makes you want it even more. I have no doubt that well get there. We have a solid team." Cutting his racing teeth on the half-mile oval at Delaware, Mathews believes the two Ontario tracks are similar enough for the experience to transfer. "I began my career at Delaware and the two tracks are fairly similar," he said. "We run the same gear and the setups are pretty close. There are a few differences between the two (tracks), but I feel comfortable there." The relatively flat egg-shaped oval at CTMP creates some setup problems for race teams, but Mathews enjoys competing there. "I like that track," he stated. "It can be a little tricky, but everyone knows it well and will be ready for the race. I dont expect anyone to be surprised." The stakes for the Clarington 200 were raised last week with Canadian Tire Motorsport Parks announcement that they will cease operation of the oval track later this summer to continue the ongoing renovation of the facility by the new ownership group that came onboard in 2011. "I absolutely would love to win the last Canadian Tire Series race there," declared Mathews. ' ' '

NEW ORLEANS -- The company that supplied electricity to the Super Bowl took the blame Friday for the power outage that brought the big game to a halt, explaining that a device designed specifically to prevent a blackout failed and plunged the game into darkness for more than half an hour. The device called a relay had been installed to protect the Superdome from problems in the cable that links the companys incoming power line with the lines that run into the stadium. Officials from Entergy New Orleans said the relay functioned with no problems during Januarys Sugar Bowl and other earlier events. It has been removed and will be replaced. All systems at the Superdome are now working, and the dome was to host a major Mardi Gras event Saturday night, said Doug Thornton, an executive with SMG, the company that manages the stadium for the state. The device was installed in a building near the stadium known as "the vault," which receives a line directly from a nearby Entergy substation. Once the line reaches the vault, it splits into two cables that go into the Superdome. Sundays power failure cut lights to about half of the stadium for 34 minutes, halting play between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. Not long after Fridays announcement, the manufacturer of the relay, Chicago-based S&C Electric Co., released a statement saying that the blackout occurred because system operators had put the devices so-called trip setting too low to allow the device to handle the incoming electric load. The statement did not name the operators, but the equipment was owned and installed by Entergy New Orleans, a subsidiary of New Orleans-based Entergy Corp. "If higher settings had been applied, the equipment would not have disconnected the power," said Michael J.S. Edmonds, vice-president of strategic solutions for S&C. In a follow-up statement, Entergy said that tests conducted by S&C and Entergy on the two relays at the Superdome showed that one worked as expected, the other did not. Entergy spokesman Mike Burns said both relays had the same trip setting. Entergys announcement came shortly before company officials were to answer questions about the outage from a committee of the City Council, which is the regulatory body for the company. During the committee hearing, City Council member Susan Guidry asked Entergy executives whether they were "fairly certain" that the relay was faulty. "That is correct," said Dennis Dawsey, an Entergy vice-president. However, when asked if the outage was caused by the design or a defect in a part of the equipment, Entergy New Orleans CEO Charles Rice said that had not been determined. "The equipment did not function properly," Rice said. "At this particular time, based upon our analysis, we cannot say definitively that there was a defect in design. What we do know is that the equipment for some unknown reason, at this particular time, did not react the way that it should have." Asked if Entergy and SMG still plan to hire a third-party investigator to get to the bottom of the cause, Rice said that possibility remains open. "Well work closely with SMG, and if there is a need for a third-party investigation, we will do that," Rice said, adding that Entergy was also working with the manufacturer. Shabab Mehraeen, an assistant professor of electrical engineering at Louisiana State University, said the relay device is a common electrical fixture in businesses and massive facilities such as the Superdome. "They are designed to keep a problem they sense from becoming something bigger, like a fire or catastrophic event," said Mehraeen, who holds a doctorate from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo. The devices vary in size. Mehraeen, who was not familiar with the relay at the Superdome, said he "wouldnt be surprised if it was bigger than a truck." Mehraeen said the reasons the devices fail are the subject of much academic research into the interaction of relays with the complex electrical systems they regulate. "Its not unusual for them to have problems," he said. "They can be unpredictable, despite national testing standards recommended by manufacturers." Entergy and SMG had both upgraded lines and equipment in the months leading up to the Super Bowl. Rice said the new switching gear, with the faulty relay, was installed as part of a $4.2 million upgrade by Entergy, including the installation of a new power line dedicated solely to the stadium. In a separate project, SMG replaced lines coming into the stadium after managers expressed concerns the Superdome might be vulnerable to a power failure like the one that struck Candlestick Park during an NFL game in 2011. That outage was blamed at least partly on a transformer explosion. Thornton stressed Friday that the dome was drawing only about two-thirds of its power capacity Super Bowl night, and said typical NFL games in late August or September can draw a little more. City officials had worried that the Super Bowl outage might harm New Orleans chances of getting another NFL championship game. But NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell downplayed that possibility, saying the NFL planned to keep New Orleans in its Super Bowl plans. Mayor Mitch Landrieu said the city intends to bid for the game again in 2018. www.thebrownsjerseysshop.com/Womens-Jabaal-Sheard-Nike-Jersey . Bolt said Wednesday he wants to win more gold in Rio, set another world record in the 200 metres next year, and perhaps win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.VANCOUVER -- The Vancouver Canucks second line may be in serious disarray, but at least theyve managed to plug the hole in their top power-play unit. The Canucks will put Danish right-wing Jannik Hansen on the top unit with twin Swedish stars Henrik and Daniel Sedin to start the season. Hansen will fill in for second-line winger David Booth, who is expected to miss 4-6 weeks because of a groin injury diagnosed during physical testing on Sunday. Booth logged a lot of time on a Vancouver power play that converted 19.8 per cent of their power-play chances last season, good for fourth in the NHL. That figure dipped to 14.3 per cent in the post-season. Hansen won the power-play job after the Canucks experimented with a number of combinations during Wednesdays practice. The 26-year-old has yet to score a power-play goal in 271 NHL games, but he is coming off a solid 20-game spell with Finnish club Tappara Tampere. He finished with seven goals and 17 points and, most importantly, received valuable time on the ice when his team had the man advantage. "Its nice to get the opportunity," he said. "I mean every player wants to get an opportunity and its up to the player to prove that they belong there. "This is a very competitive team and we strive to be if not the best then one of the best teams in the league every year and if we want to be there, we need guys stepping up and maybe playing a little bit out of their comfort zone, especially in a time like this (with injuries)." Team captain Henrik Sedin feels his team still has plenty of options on the power-play, including Hansen, despite the absences of Booth and second-line centre Ryan Kesler. "I always thought (Jannik) was very underrated as an offensive player," Sedin said. "He can make things happen out there, hes got a great shot and is a good skater a so hopefully he can be a good option for us. "We know what we can do (on the power-play), I feel very confident with the group we have and wee know (the first unit) has to be a key part of it.ddddddddddddIf you look at our power-play the last couple of years, its been up there so I think we should feel good about ourselves." Hansen -- a hard-working third-liner who recorded 16 goals and 23 assists in 82 regular season games in 2011-12 -- was grateful for the support of the Sedin twins. "Obviously its nice to know that they believe in me and want me out there with them," he said. "But again, its a matter of me proving that I belong there and nothing is a given. "I always put pressure on myself, I try to improve myself everyday and obviously this is a new thing for me so Ill do my best and see where it goes." Hansen said his job was to create space for the Sedins as well as to get in front of the net, saying "you cant be afraid to get hit by a puck." "We were looking at different options there but Jannik does make a lot of sense," Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault said. "Throughout the years at different times we have used him with the twins. It has worked out for us and on the power-play, Jannik has got more skill than people give him credit for and I also think he doesnt mind going to those tough areas. "Hes a real solid net presence and the fact hes a right-handed shot, that helps the power-play." Vigneault says a pair of intra-squad scrimmages open to the public before the season starts will help create a game-like atmosphere for his team ahead of Saturday nights season opener against the Anaheim Ducks. "Theyve got to play hard and play smart and thats what I expect from our guys," he said. "I want them to play the way theyre supposed to play." Added Henrik Sedin: "Its going to be full-on. You might not see a guy coming down and hit someone else from behind, but theres going to be intensity. Youve got to be sharp out there and you cant make plays that youre not going to do when the season starts, thats what were hoping for." ' ' '
