Like I commented: I work for a children's sleepwear manufacturer, and our imported goods still have to meet the CPSC regulations. China has the same testing laboratories as the US - like Bureau Veritas. Don't understand how the toys got here without Mattel requiring their suppliers to provide testing documents. Seriously, most of our customers, including Wal Mart, require extensive documents to prove that the product is safe for the consumer. We do 3rd party testing AND in-house testing. And I'm almost positive that there has to be some sort of government required testing for lead - as a matter of fact, the grippers in our garments have to be lead-free. So, who do you put the blame on - Mattel for not monitoring the testing of their products? Or the stores for not making sure that the product that they put on their shelves is safe for the consumer? |
